"THE TEAM FORMED CANNOT EXCEED THE NORMAL TEAM SIZE OF THAT GAME." - Rule books (and yes, that is capitalized there). So, if you are three people all from different teams, you may not team - however, if your teammate died, you may find a new teammate whose teammate died as well.
