Even though most of you guys don't know or care, today is the anniversary of the sinking of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald. All 29 crew members were lost and there is no way to really know how it exactly happened. This tragic lost was a catalyst in the US increasing shipping regulations and practices. One of the crew members was a cadet who goes to the same school I go to now.

About this time 13 years ago I was sitting in my first grade class when my teacher was called down to the office for an emergency staff meeting. When she returned she was crying and gathered us together and tried explaining what had happened in New York City. That morning, children lost their parents, men and women lost their loves, and entire families were shattered.
Today we remember all those men and women who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and their families.
