It does, but with the mana regen buff, you should always be close to full mana if you played taric before the update. And can easily spam spells if a fight happens.

With a team of 2, if you have a valuable item with a team of 8 chasing you, the guy without the item can act as a distraction. When you are by yourself, there is nothing you can do. Also there are more solo players than there are total # of teams so it will benefit most of the community as well.

If they opponents are smart, they can just send two to attack the distraction while the rest keeps chasing they guy, but this is still better than nothing

Additionally, mineplex doesn't have the player count to provide multiple choices for a game. We saw what happened to UHC, we don't want that to happen to GH
