i have a chromebook samsung series 5 us-wifi and i would like to play minecraft on it but the thing is that chrome os had a recent update that prevents you from being able to go into dev mode before you enroll the device, and when you enroll the device what ever settings are set in the admin console are enforced on the device. the only way that i see that i can get into dev mode (sense there are not any old versions of chrome os that i can find) is to edit chrome os itself so that there is no forced re-enrollment and i can go into dev mode before i enroll the device. i could do this myself (with lots of time spent trying to learn c and c++ and i could have my own pc by the time i learn enough to do anything.). so i decited to ask around (sense i don't know any programmers in real life)
i don't have anything to offer (other than in game money on the server) so if you don't want to do it without a price don't bother because i have no money XD. i could offer in game money from the server but you said you're rusty and i doubt your sister plays on the server.
*edit* i just remembered that i do have a few books you might find intresting
My services would have been complimentary and only to help you.
as for the task however...
You managed to stump us both. She specializes in basically every coding language across Linux and Windows. I have my own chromebook but never realized it had the potential to pull that off due to OS restrictions. Though it uses a SSD card(or solid state drive) which is commonly more faster then the hard drives used on regular computers which gives it a good bit of its speed(along with good RAM and Motherboard). The only thing im not certain about is if it has a good GPU. If you do manage to pull this off though i would like to know how.
i decited to get on my dad's computer to try to search around the os files and i decited that they would program it the easiest that they could (sense it is a simple os) so i looked up in the folders for "dev block" and it brought up abunch of files.
i just want to say that if the files i have found are the correct ones than all i have left is to figure out how to edit them, as you have seen above they are encoded. so therefore the problem that i now oppose is knowing what algorithm they used to encode their programming.
honestly i could try deleting the files but that could damage the os and if i installed it on the chromebook (via recovery mode. it would only have minor edits therefor it should still recognize it as a official os XD) however back to the point. if i deleted the files and installed the remainder of the .bin file to the device, and there is something serious missing than it could damage the device. that is why im not gonna take that risk XD
if anyone has any idea what algorithm google uses in their os's than plz let me know so i can decode the file.
you do realize that i am not modifying the computer itself, i am trying to modify a copy of the chromebooks os. that was the most pointless comment ever. but i get the joke XD
DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT DECODEING? PLZ ANSWER IF YOU DO.
blockdev: this file is considered a "shared library" file (not sure what that is ) i think this is the file that blocks dev mode. won't be sure until i can unencode it.
txt format of blockdev: incase you cannot open the original file blockdev or incase you don't trust the download file (dj don't judge)
dev_firmware.keyblock: considered a keyblock file. not sure what that is but it might be related to the file i am looking for.
i got the txt format by opening the files using nano (on ubuntu) and copying and pasteing it. i tried gedit but it kept trying to unencode it and it would just look like abunch of gibberish highlighted in dark red (sense it didn't know what format the file was encoded in, just like how i don't xd)
*edit* im also starting to think that the files might be encripted not encoded
