My "New" Rig

There was a paragraph here, now you are just reading filler. Shame on you!

Oh boy here comes a story,

I have been using the same stock HP Pavilion Computer model for around 2 years. I even upgraded the GPU with a 50$ Nvidia one. Though sometime in the summer my older sister (Currently SysAdmin at a popular college she graduated from) Built a fancy and powerful computer She dubbed "Athena". The thing was massive, about twice the size of my computer. It outperformed my computer (capable of running most games at mid settings) with ultra settings and a few hidden capabilities granted by the tech itself. I was incredibly jealous considering i myself was a bit of a tech lover as well and i was much more of an avid gamer. I decided to begin raising money though a job through the fall and planned out all the parts i would acquire. She had told me what each individual part does down to the byte(tech joke). So it was also a fun learning process as well. On Cyber Monday it was decided i would get the remaining money i needed but i would build the PC as a Christmas Gift.

A week before Christmas I had gotten with my Sister and we build the computer. The parts itself were not dissimilar to her own. Though She got an SSD (solid state drive, basically a faster hard drive at the expense of lowered capacity at the same price). After new years i got a new desk and monitor to complete my new years resolution(another tech joke).

Enough of that down to the build itself. I couldn't find generic parts like the Processing core (which was an AMD Quad-core) or the hard drive (1TB of data and fast RPM), or battery.

Parts i do remember consist of:
The Gpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...67&cm_re=amd_radeon_r9-_-14-121-867-_-Product
The RAM Sticks: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314
The case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811124156
And the Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...m_re=ASUS_motherboards-_-13-131-872-_-Product

I also got some nice fans and am currently using the same turtle beaches i have been using since my xbox days. The build cost around 800-900$ USD.

This might sound rediculous but i am already on the lookout for better parts to create the ultimate PC. couch GTX TITAN GPU /cough
Feel free to post your build as well or ask for advice on parts you are looking for.
Also i am available on steam http://steamcommunity.com/id/Pattonsguy I have extended my library significantly during the last winter sale. Perhaps we could play sometime. Just remember, I dont play competitively.

i myself do plan on doing something like this in due time. however i havn't really put much thought into the parts yet.

however i am going to eventually build a gameing pc i am right now planning something similar on a more small scale. i have aquired a monitor first (sense they are more expensive than the pc i am going to get) i got a bargan at goodwill cuz my sister works there and she spoted a trutech tv & pc monitor model 008-09-0119 (with built in speaker [yay]) for a whopping $20 (XDDDDD). i have yet to aquire anything else as of now but know what i am going to get. the guy sells lots of computer stuff. such as hard drives, power supplies, ram, floppy drives (WAY OUT DATED), and video cards (not graphic [they are the same thing, but graphic is more for gameing as in they are more beefy]), monitors (already got one), cd/dvd players, and barebone computer desktops (they are all around the same model, ive seen dell optiplex model 745 and 755. im getting the 755). if you want he even sells laptops. i plan on getting a dell optiplex 755 (included is power supply, cd/dvd player, cpu, some have video card. ill have to get the rest). other than that ill have to buy a mouse and keyboard (duh) and a cord for my monitor (the monitor had the power cord but not the video cord, it actually has two ports for computers :d s-video and VGA (i hear s-video has better video quality, ill try to get a video card with a port).

these are different types of dell optiplex's (incuding tower through mini desktop)

ill get the second to the left.

the GHz on the processor are between 1.8 & 2.3

also i couldn't find any photographs of the monitor online so i took some myself
Spoiler: monitorShow

i also have my own hard drive (but 1. it is small and 2. it is old and 3. i still want another hard drive)

it is a 120 gb hard drive with xp & ubuntu dual boot (90 gb for xp and 30 gb for ubuntu)
Spoiler: hard driveShow

forgot to note*

you have actually tried to help me find parts before patton and i thank you for that. it is just that it isn't in my budget XD

however when it is in my budget i would be glad to take advice from you as you seem to know a thing or two about building a computer

(actually my grandparents are computer geeks but i never talk to them. :/ )

i have to ask patton, what is wrong with your computer that you would need new parts?

i understand that it is best to have the fastest computer possable but couldn't you wait until better parts come out?

Right now the only parts i would need to upgrade are the Motherboard, possibly power source, and finally the GPU.

Right now my motherboard is not powerful enough to support the Full power of Nvidia Maxwell MicroArchitecture, which is currently the most advanced GPU design to date. Though the next series, the pascal, is set to come out this year. The major bonuses come not only with improved graphical rendering capabilities, but also has the VXGI.

i've already said i haven't looked much into parts of what i want to build (as in make & model) but i have an idea of what i want. i plan on getting a motherboard with 2 cpu's (you need more ram but it is faster than dual core) and i would get a faster processor that is around 4 GHz. a good graphics card. a 1T hard drive (thinking about getting something smaller that is maybe faster). i would like a cd/dvd/blue ray player/burner. a heavy duty power source (cuz the power source is one of the more important parts. 1. you cant run a computer without it and 2. if it fries than it could cause something else to get damaged) and of course lots of fans XD. i would want a tower of course because you have more room to work.

*edit* oh, i forgot to add. i would also need a good gpu (sorry, forgot to add that because i am more familar to older computers [also usually mid grade, not gameing])

i could compromise the large hard drive, the dvd player, the graphics card & gpu, and maybe the power supply because i would mainly use it for mc and mc doesn't need that big of a graphics card. ive actually played mc on a old xp with a video card and it played fine. i do burn disks but i would be fine for a while. i could compromise the hard drive for something under 500 gb cuz i don't use up that much space that quick. however the rest i would like to get when i first build the pc instead of getting it later.
