There was a paragraph here, now you are just reading filler. Shame on you!
Oh boy here comes a story,
I have been using the same stock HP Pavilion Computer model for around 2 years. I even upgraded the GPU with a 50$ Nvidia one. Though sometime in the summer my older sister (Currently SysAdmin at a popular college she graduated from) Built a fancy and powerful computer She dubbed "Athena". The thing was massive, about twice the size of my computer. It outperformed my computer (capable of running most games at mid settings) with ultra settings and a few hidden capabilities granted by the tech itself. I was incredibly jealous considering i myself was a bit of a tech lover as well and i was much more of an avid gamer. I decided to begin raising money though a job through the fall and planned out all the parts i would acquire. She had told me what each individual part does down to the byte(tech joke). So it was also a fun learning process as well. On Cyber Monday it was decided i would get the remaining money i needed but i would build the PC as a Christmas Gift.
A week before Christmas I had gotten with my Sister and we build the computer. The parts itself were not dissimilar to her own. Though She got an SSD (solid state drive, basically a faster hard drive at the expense of lowered capacity at the same price). After new years i got a new desk and monitor to complete my new years resolution(another tech joke).
Enough of that down to the build itself. I couldn't find generic parts like the Processing core (which was an AMD Quad-core) or the hard drive (1TB of data and fast RPM), or battery.
Parts i do remember consist of:
The Gpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...67&cm_re=amd_radeon_r9-_-14-121-867-_-Product
The RAM Sticks: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314
The case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811124156
And the Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...m_re=ASUS_motherboards-_-13-131-872-_-Product
I also got some nice fans and am currently using the same turtle beaches i have been using since my xbox days. The build cost around 800-900$ USD.

This might sound rediculous but i am already on the lookout for better parts to create the ultimate PC. couch GTX TITAN GPU /cough
Feel free to post your build as well or ask for advice on parts you are looking for.
Also i am available on steam http://steamcommunity.com/id/Pattonsguy I have extended my library significantly during the last winter sale. Perhaps we could play sometime. Just remember, I dont play competitively.
