Protection is a balanced kit for sure. Learn how to be more consistent with your aim rather than just spraying and hoping to get kills, and protection will never bother you. . Also, literally every kit with a GOOD special ability counters it. Protection only has its main feature, and the killstreak levels don't really help all that much with it. Use frosty, spider, shotty, or magneto if it bothers you.. I realize I stated that I don't want to discuss the kits validity any farther, but please understand; Even the most skilled players on the...
Here are my thoughts on the matter for those that don't already know (Mostly copied and pasted from another thread cuz I'm tired): - Why is that everyone who argues protection is fine the way it is uses "You can counter it with all of these KITS.." as their support? Kits are supposed to help eliminate other players to progress in the game. Not be used just to cancel out other kits. (Mind you, using a kit to kill players differs from using a kit just to counter another one) - Because of the previous statement, how well a certain ki...
Throwing it out there but, maybe there could be a free kit day around every holiday? I don't think they're as valuable as they used to be now that players can acess kits without spending actual money (PP shop). Maybe if the price was lowered a bit, we could have free kit days a bit more often (Can't lower it so that it'd get purchased every few days, though, ewww). And since some players don't really enjoy free kit day (At least when it draws a LOT of people on at once) maybe we could make it so that CTF2 remains unaffected?
So you want there to be a bigger variety of players trying to cap rather than the same 1 or 2 people? I'm not sure if this is a big issue, but I also don't think that the same player should be able to get all 3 flag caps. Heck, even if the same player gets 2 caps, it usually means the rest of his/her team is just kill farming. (The only exception I can think of is if there's one very skilled player and the rest of the team is significantly less skilled) It wouldn't hurt to make some changes to this. Xzackly has a point though, kills an...
As we can see, Protection is relatively popular. Now you might be saying "but Xorgon, all the noobs use protection, all of us who have high K/D are so much better than that". Well, let's compare that to people with a K/D higher than 1.0. Well, now Protection is even more popular than Agent and Magician. It's now in the top half. "But Xorgon," you say, "Diamond players are above all that". Let's take a look. Although Protection has now decreased in percentage usage, it's gone up in the table, it's now in the top 5! ...
Every kit gives an upper hand in some situation or another, for example: Ninja -- huge advantage on terrain with big height difference or tall obstacles Vortex/Magneto -- Advantage on bunched up fights involving lots of people Sniper -- massive advantage at long range Magician/Frosty/Spider -- Advantage when a fight can be predicted, for example when both players know the other is coming around the corner Graviteer/Demo -- Advantage with a coordinated team capping flags Some of these advantages are more subtle than others. Protection's ...
Something does need to be done with protection. Saying "You can just counter protection with protection" sounds a bit like nonsense to me. Why is that everyone who argues protection is fine the way it is uses "You can counter it with all of these KITS.." as their support? Kits are supposed to help eliminate other players to progress in the game. Not be used just to cancel out others kits. (Mind you, using a kit to kill players differs from using a kit just to counter another one) So IMO, how well a certain kit can be countered wit...
Congrats and all but.. you had to know it was around that... specific area to even start pressing buttons, and the map has been out for what, 2 days? Not denying that you got lucky, but also not denying that this is very very very sketchy.. just IMO...
This brings up a good question, why on earth do people like technically awful maps? Is it just an example of the general population not necessarily knowing what 'is best'? Don't know exactly why to be honest. Maybe the same reason why people smoke or drink or the like even though it's actually bad for their bodies. Just feels right depending on the situation you're in.
To be honest, I don't think what's popular on MCBall is the best way to judge the quality of map design. It isn't a good way to judge quality, no. Then again, if a map is popular on mcball, it means most people find it very enjoyable, no matter the quality. Popular mcball maps have differing qualities.
