Ghoul, a carnivorous and cannibalistic species that are only capable of eating one thing: Humans. They display the same attributes as humans, having the same appearance and intelligece, with the only difference being their inner biology. With this in mind, Ghoul's are only capable of two life choices: Living in Isolation or assimilating into the Human life. Of course, the latter is a dangerous line to walk in. If they are suspected of being a ghoul, or are caught participating in ghoul activities (eating humans, etc.) will be apprehended by a specialized police force formed to hunt ghouls down in specific, the CCG or Commission of Counter Ghoul.
The CCG was formed with the creation of the Ghoul Countermeasures Law which provides the legal foundation for ghouls to be hunted down by outlawing them. Any fraternization with the ghouls or protecting them will also lead to one being incarcerated. With this, the CCG carries special weapons made to, specifically, hunt and kill ghouls if necessary. These weapons are known as Quinque which are made specifically from a ghouls kagune, and is the only thing known to be capable of harming Ghouls, as traditional weapons are incapable of even denting the skin of a ghoul.
