I'm seriously contemplating something now... whether I want to bring up a new server fresh from scratch or to help servers that have proper, rich, friendly communities to stay up :/ tough decisions...
Hm. Tough decision, I'd agree. It depends on what you enjoy doing. If you like creating servers, chances are you enjoy the more techy minecraft server stuff. Unless you are an administrator, and perhaps even then you wouldn't get an opportunity to do so. On the other hand, helping another server is a lot easier, as you an chat and help people. You also tend to get a lot more well deserved credit, as you are helping the players directly. Creating a server is more difficult, yes, but also more rewarding. It's also more risky. But what's life without risks, ya know? In the end it's definitely a difficult decision, and for that I wish you the best of luck, no matter what you choose!

'course. I'm assuming you know what you're doing (I don't xP) but I'm having a bunch of problems with name-changes. Do you have any suggestions about that??
If you're talking about integrating name changed on the server, then you'd have to get a plugin dev to write you a plugin that allows people to change their protections/chests/whatever through some in-server process...
I have a plugin that uses UUID's for players, but the problem is, I don't think it even works, and it definitely isn't compatible with worldguard & LWC
