The kids in my science class truly don't know anything about astronomy. Now I'm no KingBob12th when it comes to astronomy but get this: The teacher asked if the class knew how long it took light to travel from the Sun to Earth. I didn't bother answering as I would expect the rest of the class to put their hands up before me. The teacher stands there like "No? Really, no one knows how long it takes?" I sit up and look around the classroom and one kid says "A few seconds?" and I thought "what?!" So I answered (8 minutes), and the teacher agreed in faith that his class wasn't completely astronomically illiterate (but I think I proved him I wasn't astronomically illiterate when I explained a black hole and answered every question with more correct detail than the next kid).
I don't mean to be mean to the class. They are nice people. But jeez, haven't you even watched Vsauce, or listened to any science videos, or even heard it from just every day sources?
I guess a lot of people don't take science too seriously; which annoys me.
